Q:

replacing the brass hammer spring bushing–more quieter !

Finally made and tested a delrine hammer spring retainer with a longer spring guide to replace the brass bushing thats making all the impact noise and when the hammer returns from opening the valve it doesn’t hit brass anymore. sure made it quieter from the spring twang and hammer slap. now testing how long it will last!

Zonk don’t have a clue let alone a .25 caliber Vulcan. His has a .22 caliber Vulcan.

Wow I tuned this vulcan, customer complained that the speed became inconsistent. and here’s what I have found—that brass retainer broke so I installed my delrine retainer. pulled that from another vulcan that was getting tested. have to make one in stainless.

Zonk____.25 don’t have a retainer!

TopAir is yours a .22 cal? I would assume the .22 and .25 are alike….And did you make any extra??

That was about 40 days ago Topairman and it’s still holding up. That’s great, how many rounds do you think you have through it by now?

Let’s see……at least 3 fills, so that makes at least 400+ shots.

Since Modifications are made via experimentation this may continue to be a process with a learning curve. Ern spent a good amount of time on my Vulcan and good amount of time making that Derlin bushing from scratch. However it has it’s limitations and still will require more experimentation and testing.

See my original post on this a while back…….mine has been working perfectly so far.

I’m wondering if hatching the face of the brass face to lessen the contact area a bit would work to lessen the slap. I think it would reduce the slap part as we wouldn’t be 2 flat pieces coming together

I think you would get more rapid wear of the brass. There already is a dusting of brass powder in the area.

Hey Mr. I want one too. Don’t forget me.

I would sure like your final version as well…anything to deaden the ping!

Please let us know if you plan to make them available, how to order, pay etc. greatly appreciate it.

I’d like one too and will be watching for longevity results.

Not sure of the amount of space around the hammer but what about covering the current retainer with a delrin sleeve – either a tight fit or glued on. The face would still be brass but the sleeve should change the harmonics.

Are you done yet??? I’ll be watching this post for the final results……..

Ernest , I would also like to buy one .

Good going Ernerst :thumb:
I’d like to buy one even if it doesn’t last forever.
