Q:

Mounts+Tri-Rail

I have a 4-16x40mm scope. Does this mean I need 40mm rings? I’ve looked at rings, but can’t seem to find a recommended pair that are 40mm. Also, I don’t want to get them, find out they are too low or too high on my gun, and have to return them and wait another week. What’s the best way to figure out what I need? Oh, and the scope and rings will be on a Tri-Rail, which according to what I’ve read, raises the scope .5″.

Thanks I’ll try those mounts you recommended a while ago. The accushot mount. It doesn’t say wether its 30mm or 1″. It’s a centerpoint 4-16x40mm

40mm is the diameter of the largest lens (the one at the front). It doesnt affect the type of rings you need.

Somewhere in the scope description it should say 30mm or 1″ tube, that is the diameter of the scope body where the rings attach to it… you need to get the rings that match that.

Theres no “right” height…. depends on the shooter. I have been shooting for years and still needed to try out 4 sets of rings to get the height I liked on a new gun I just got.

You shouldnt have any clearance issues using a tri rail and any rings with a scope that has a 40mm objective on an AF gun, so anything you get will work and let you shoot, its just a matter of how high is comfortable for you.
