Q:

Just gotta say……

I’m really glad Adam pointed me in the direction of this forum..It makes me sad to see members of other forums bashed for braggin about what they have killed or how many kills they have made with thier pellet guns…Without even taking the time to ask if the animals where a pest or for game..And to have the nerve say “watch what you say on your posts as we don’t want to add fodder to the anti-gunners/no hunters types”……And then to have it followed up by something to effect that “some shooters are killers, not all are hunters”…. At least the people of this forum don’t contradict thier beliefs on one another…. I personally don’t care what the anti-gunners think of me..I am my own person and proud of who and what i am…. Maybe those type of people should take into consideration how many trees have been killed so they can punch paper… By the way to the members of this forum who are paper punchers I don’t mean you any offense..There is nothing wrong with it,,I just wish people would’nt bash others for what they enjoy or do….Well that my piece of mind, just had to vent somewhere that people might understand…

Thanks. No, I didn’t find one with a tag. So if I killed one, would I be screwed? Assuming I would eat it?

Yes, Julien…. EAT THE TAG. That ought to be interesting when they come looking for it 😆 😆

Jooleyen, I guess its within the bounds of possibility….

Here if you shoot something with a tracking collar (seems to always be Coyotes around here) you just have to hand in the collar. Its no big deal or a problem, assuming that you killed it legally that is.

FYI – It isnt Radar, its RF direction finding using an Radio emitter on animal and a directional antenna (usually a Yagi) and receiver carried by the tracker.

Only if there was a study or if they were protected… I think they use a RF transmitter to do the locating…

Did you find a ‘tag’ on one?

As always, I have a question.

Is there any chance that local DNR would put tags on squirrels and track them with radar?

I tend to think that paper punching is just practice for going out and shooting something furry.

😀 exactly that

and most of it ends up in the stew pot anyway so wheres the problem

least you know its fresh, and its about as free range as you can get

here we say that pests’s control is good for the well being of the society….hehhehehe

don’t get why the antis think that it is OK to pay an exterminator $200 + to trap rats, but that I am evil for trapping or shooting them myself

cause they doesnt like to have fun….

and you causes more damage to the nature by riding a car than killing varmint, pests, or paper punchin all together

I tend to think that paper punching is just practice for going out and shooting something furry.

BIG THUMBS UP STEVE…..I purchased my talon this year first of all because I have wanted one for years. Second due to the drought in our are vermin critters have been doing excessive wandering…I have lived at my current home for 14 years and have never seen a rat however this year I killed 16 for the same reason…4 that had found a way into my basement to get my dogs food..thats after I moved it in from the porch where the first 5 bought the ranch….after that I started leaving bait out and hunting them after dark….Turns out that the little stream 100 yards below my house had completly dried up and shows signs of them being there probably for years before…I guess they had never had a reason to stray from home until it was gone….To bad for them they could’nt stay at my house….Oh yeh the neihbors cats turned up 10 more….

I live here on the left coast and have been surrounded by ignorant anti-gun/hunter types all of my life. I learned not to talk about my sport/hobby if I wanted to get a date. I’ll be honest, I don’t post pictures of dead critters because I don’t want the antis on my door step. These people don’t realize how important hunters are to wildlife management. Federal excise taxes on guns and ammunition, plus hunting licenses, tags, and stamps pay for habitat and biologists. Sportsmen have purchased more land exclusively to raise and manage critters. The antis will build and buy houses deeper and deeper into natural habitat then complain when a mountain lion eats their dog in their back yard. And they are the people who voted to ban the hunting of mountain lions! They don’t understand the delicate balance of nature that sportsmen and wildlife biologists maintain in an ever more difficult shrinking environment.

Pests or varmits are my main focus. I took thirty rats in September/October. (I don’t mean to brag, I just want to illustrate how many there were running around in the bushes). My family is not going to have its health endangered by rats, or ground squirrels carrying bubonic plague. I don’t get why the antis think that it is OK to pay an exterminator $200 + to trap rats, but that I am evil for trapping or shooting them myself. Maye it’s like that multi-billion dollar meat industry thing. But he’s right, it’s nice to have supportive, encouraging, non-judgemental people to learn with. I love the internet!

thanks guys….You know my wife and I have enjoyed shooting together for years…But in turn she never has nor ever will go into the woods with me…My oldest and youngest daughters are shooters as well and only my middle 2 children hunt with me…I never give any of them a hard time I respect thier wishes and them mine.Taking slack game (starlings, crows and what not that is legal.) and the occasional coon tht gets into my father-in-laws corn crib,,yeh him too, before he brings the rest of his family. It’s practice for us..Sure you can shoot a target and learn trigger control and breathing..But put it in a real life situation when that animal is walking or running etc… And that is where the black birds and other targets come in for us.. I personaly don’t want myself or any of my children to wound an animal. Yes I have been ridiculed before for my actions. But here is how I look at it..the cats.possums coyotes and other wild animals have to eat too…I love the t-shirt that say’s ” I’m not a hunter I’m a wildlife control specialist.” …

Yep. It’s great. I can shoot something and nobody freaks out. The guns are made for hunting. You don’t need a 70fpe condor for paper. Sure, it’s a wicked accurate gun. But, the fact is, it is made for hunting. Freaking about because it’s being used for it’s purpose is stupid. Expecially when the people freaking out are people that own the gun. 🙄

I like target shooting. I like hunting. If someone doesn’t like me putting lead in a tree or a fuzzy little animal, they can BITE ME! Same goes for those not liking the fur industry. I like my fur. If you don’t, go away!

Now, what I do not condone, is YN’s homosexuality. 😆

Oh, and adam, I believe the word you are looking for is “yipeekaye”
