Q:

Day at the range with my new R3M .25

I had a pretty good day shooting my new Edgun at the range today. Before taking it out, I cleaned the barrel with a patch soaked in Breakfree CLP followed by numerous dry patches. The whole process of cleaning was taking too long so I called it quits once the patches started coming out with light gray marks.

At the range, I initially fired 50 shots as fast as I could to “season” the barrel. Once that was done, I roughly sighted the gun in at 25 yards, took it out to 50 yards, and then to 100 yards. Here are a few pics from my day including a few of my best groups. The squares on the targets are 1″. It was my first time shooting groups at anything past 17 yards (my old backyard) but today’s results make me really excited to see what this Edgun can do once I get in some more practice.

I’m really impressed with this gun, by the way. I love the way it looks and how solid and compact it feels in my hands. The 9-shot .25 mags are working perfectly and the bolt, although a bit rough when I first got it, is only getting smoother (approx. 200 shots fired).

View of my booth. Target is out at 50 yards.

5 shots @50 yards.

3 shots @100 yards.

That’s with a standard R3 .25.

Out to 50 yards I can’t tell Predator groups from JSB Kings and both are sub 1/2″. Not sure about 100 yards. I have taken a few birds and squirrels out past 80 yards with Predators but I don’t really know how they group.

Interesting, I’ll try to shoot a few more groups with them vs. the Kings.

Sorry some of the pictures are jacked up. Photobucket won’t cooperate…

I went out again today and shot a few more groups at both 50 and 100 yards with the JSB Kings and JSB Predators. It was a really nice day out today albeit a 10 mph inconsistent wind that changed directions once in a while. I just aimed at the same spot for each group (usually the center of the target) and hoped for the best. The results were pretty good but not as great as I’d like. Don’t get me wrong, I’m 100% positive that the gun is dead accurate; unfortunately, it’s my amateur skill as a shooter that is limiting the Edgun 😳 Haha.

The Predators performed a little sub-par in comparison to the Kings. I’m not sure if this is typical of them in .25? Was I supposed to shoot 30-50 first to acclimate the barrel? I wouldn’t rely on them past 50 yards when hunting. If anyone has experience with these, please comment.

There was also some guy shooting an extremely loud, compensated rifle in the booth next to me… Since I could literally feel every shot, I blame the fliers on him and his cannon!

very nice group, 40 shots per fill, i think your velocity is around 940/950fps, you can lower it down and get more shot count.

Thanks. I’ll try low ring.
I thought about .25 for hunting. But I don’t want to bring my tank with me. 40 shots is not enough for me.

very nice group. How many shots can you get per fill? pellets velocity?

Are you using low scope mount ring? are you fell comfortable? Have you tried Mid-ring or high-ring?

I haven’t actually measured my shot-count or velocity yet. If I had to guess, around 35-40? I’m using low rings and they’re comfortable. I tried high rings, but was having a hard time getting a consistent cheek weld.

Nice gun.
I think a R3M .25 will be my next Edgun.
A search should yield you some info. on trigger adjustment.
Likely luck of the draw but my .30 came with a very nice trigger.

Trigger can be adjusted at anytime, ,, so easy. .. hope someone post some info about this new trigger. ..However I adjusted mine,,,

I will post several more at 50 and 100 yards next weekend unless there’s wind/rain. In the meantime, I need to adjust the trigger a bit… I’m running the gun completely as it came out of the box (except for the Hagan shroud adapter and one cleaning) and the one thing I dislike the most is the trigger.

That is really nice groups, I like them, ,, go ahead and post more groups. .
